CHILD SEX ABUSE & THE WHITE SLAVE SEX TRADE

In the light of the Jimmy Savile revelations and the many allegations that a circulating I would like to add a little bit of knowledge that I possess.

My father, who died in 2002, was an MI6 officer for ten years after being in Military Intelligence since during WWII. He was a trained Arabist and, as a family, we were stationed in Beirut from 1960 until 1965. He rose to First Secretary. They were turbulent times for the embassy in Beirut especially after Philby's defection to Moscow in 1963.

In the early 1980s he told me about something that passed across his desk while in Beirut. Normally my father was never particularly forthcoming about his work with the Secret Intelligence Service although in some cases my mother filled in a few gaps. But this was an exception because it was some sort of warning and I believe it truly horrified him still.

The brief was initiated by Scandinavian governments concerned that a large number of young women aged between 13 and 25 had disappeared. Evidence suggested that the women had be lured or kidnapped and had subsequently been sold into the white sex slave trade in Arab North Africa and the Middle East. One of the main conduits appeared to be Beirut.Other areas of the globe were also mentioned but were not within my father's remit.
The background intelligence that accompanied the brief made my father jump because it was so disturbing.
There was good intelligence that a large number of British girls and young women and some boys were also being trafficked in the same manner. I cannot remember the exact numbers my father mentioned but it was thousands from Britain alone and a thousand or two from Scandinavia in total.
The majority of the older women had been lured by the hope of cabaret and dancing jobs abroad, only to find on arrival at their destinations that they had been conned and escape was almost impossible. The majority, mostly the younger ones, were just kidnapped and transported abroad. It appeared that somewhere within the security services these activities had been tracked for many years but no particular action had taken place.

The background intelligence informed my father that between 25,000 and 50,000 people, mostly young, disappeared in Britain every year. I understand that this is still the case today; the number is said to be close to 250,000 per year in the USA. Most would never be heard of again. They were grouped roughly as follows:-

•  Run away from home.
•  Kicked out of their homes.
•  Run away from local authority care, orphanages or foster parents or custody.
•  Left home to look for work elsewhere.
•  Suspected to have eloped with a lover.
•  Just wish to disappear for a variety of reasons.
•  Become homeless for economic reasons.

In many cases their disappearances were never reported to the authorities especially where home breakdowns had occurred. That is why the public were unaware there was a very serious ongoing problem. If nobody reports you missing or don't realise that you are your disappearance will not be noticed.

The MI6 intelligence was critical of many aspects. It recognised there was a great deal of abuse in care homes, both physical and sexual. It stated that it was organised both on a local scale as well as nationally. It was a system that was well organised and did involve people that possessed great power within local government, the police, the judiciary and the State. When accusations were made accusers often had fatal accidents or simply disappeared; the files were closed or lost.
The most damning intelligence informed my father that many of the children that disappeared while in local authority care or foster care did so "in the middle of the night". There were a few reports from other inmates of someone taking them away. Across the state system up to 2,000 young people would cease to exist every year. No one looked for these unloved children.

Many young people travelled to London and other major cities by the attraction of the bright lights and dreams of the good life. On arrival at the main stations young people who looked like they were on the run were approached by professionals that lured them into lives of prostitution, drugs and crime. In many cases these professional greeters were rapists and murderers; most working alone but many in teams. The police were not very interested and in the period since the end of the war were very corrupt and almost certainly directly involved.
My father was shocked at the damning nature of the intelligence. It was the numbers involved and the totally cavalier manner the whole business had been allowed to continue. It was physical and sexual abuse as well as murder on an industrial scale by the Establishment that had been going on for decades.

My father did manage to discover a conduit in Beirut that was trafficking about 100 north European girls and women a week from Paris and other centres to the Gulf and beyond. He realised that it was probably the tip of the iceberg.
My father realised that unless the heads of the organisations weren't cut off nothing would change.

Maybe, with the internet, it will become easier to attack the head.
